

Tuesday, January 01, 2013 at the Cape Cod Hospital of acute
respiratory failure. Born on October 30, 1927 in New Rochelle, N.Y.,
he was the son of the late Waters S. Davis, Jr. and Alice Batchelder
Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Phyllis; his son, Waters S.
Davis, IV and his wife, Karen and their two sons, Alexander and
Andrew; his daughter, Paige Andrews and her children, Ashley Barneby
and her husband, John; and Forrest Andrews and his wife, Katie. He
was looking forward to the birth of a great-granddaughter later this
year. He is also survived by his half-brother, Richard O. Sanford,
his wife, Susan and nephew, Charles of Wellington, FL; and nephew J.
Roger Davis and niece Lisa Bailey, children of Roger Davis.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Roger
and Jeremy.
He attended Hotchkiss Preparatory School, New York University and
received his Masters of Journalism from the University of Texas.
After serving in the U. S. Navy Submarine Corp., he joined General
Electric in Schenectady, NY and later Weekly and Valenti Advertising
in Houston, TX. After the death of his father, he became manager of
the family’s third generation ranching operation in West Texas. He
sold his interest in the ranching operation in 1982 and he and Phyllis
moved to Cape Cod.
He immediately became active as a vestry member of St. Mary’s
Episcopal Church, a Board of Trustee member of Sturgis Library and an
active member of Cape Cod Men’s Club, where he pursued one of his
greatest interests, bridge. He also loved his cats and reading.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, January 5,
2013 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 3055 Main Street, Barnstable, MA
02630.
