Albert "Bud" George Osborne

Albert George (Bud) Osborne, 88, passed away August 4, 2019 at the Idaho State Veterans’ home, Pocatello, ID. He was under the care of the Veterans Home and Heritage Hospice. Bud was born January 1, 1931, in Jackson, Wyoming, on the National Elk Refuge. He was born to Ray Henry Osborne and Mable Carrie Nelson. He lived on the Elk Refuge until he was 6 years old. They moved to Ashton, ID where he grew up on the family farm and attended school through graduation. After graduation he worked for the Forest Service and fought forest fires. He joined the Army National Guard and was with the 116th Armored Cavalry Company C. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He remained with the National Guard for 27 years when he retired. After retiring from the military, he worked for the City of Idaho Falls for 20 years. In 1955, Bud married Joyce Mikesell, in Boise, ID. They had two daughters, Debbie and Kristi. They later divorced. He married JoAnne in 1972 and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 7, 1974. They were married for 47 years. Bud increased his children by 3, when he was joined by JoAnne’s children Randy, Rita and Bonita. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed serving as a Varsity Scout leader. Bud loved the outdoors and a good joke. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and family. He was one of the best Santas in the valley and enjoyed making the kids smile. Because of health reasons he spent the last 6 years living at the Pocatello Veterans Home. They took very good care of him and He considered staff and residents as his extended family. Bud is survived by his loving wife, JoAnne Hokanson Osborne of Ammon, ID; daughter Debbie (Jim) Beverly, Moore, ID; daughter Kristi (LeRoy) Pope, Post Falls, ID; step children; son Randy (Nancy) Ames of Nampa, ID; daughter Rita (Leon) Hebdon of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter Bonita (Joe) Maughan of Ammon, ID. He is also survived by his sisters; Joann (Martin) Gallagher of Ashton, ID; Phyllis Osborne of Jackson Hole, WY. Bud has 18 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Services will be August 10th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel, 4375 E. Sunnyside Rd, Ammon, ID with Bishop Greg Johnson officiating. A viewing will be held at 10am with the service at 11am. The interment will be at the Ammon Cemetery, 5226 East Sunnyside Road with military rites
