John Edward Dwight III, 24, of Idaho Falls passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 28, 2014..

He was born December 3, 1989, in Idaho Falls to John E. Dwight, Jr. and Carla Chelan Dwight. He attended Sunnyside Elementary School, Taylorview Jr. High, Idaho Falls High School, Elk Creek Academy in Heron, Montana. He attended the University of Idaho for three semesters.

John was an accomplished driller, working for Greenup Geo Drilling of New Mexico on the installation of clean energy systems for LoopTech in New Mexico and Texas, and in support of uranium exploration for Uranium One in Wyoming. More recently, he returned to Idaho Falls and worked for Hard Core Construction of Rigby as an apprentice housing framer.

He loved sports and outdoor activities. He played youth soccer, basketball, and ice hockey, but his real passions were rock climbing, snowboarding, long boarding and wilderness camping. He loved adventure.

A memorial service will be held at11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home at 825 E 17th St. in Idaho Falls. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Idaho Food Bank in John’s memory.

Carla and family. I am so sorry to read of the loss of your son. Loosing a child, no matter how old, is a loss that is very hard to bear. My thoughts are with you in this time of grief.

John and I were close friends at Sunnyside before I moved in 6th grade, he was always so fun to be around and I never forgot him. My dad works out at the INL and has worked with John and he told me of John III's passing. I am so sorry for your loss, it's hard to hear that someone my age has passed too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.

Carla, I just recently heard of the loss of your son John from a coworker here at SMC. I am so very sorry to hear the news about your son. Of course there is nothing that I can say to comfort you, but know that I am praying you and your family's comfort. I do deeply care about you. You have always been just one of the nicest people that I met when I was at Argonne/MFC... and I met a lot of people working in the cafeteria. I hope your memories of the fun and happy times help in some way to ease your pain.
