
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 6-8pm, with funeral services on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd, with burial at White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone.
Ava was born in North Kansas City, MO. on January 28, 1929 to Joseph and Gladys Hampton. She graduated in 1947 from Lansing High School in Lansing, KS
She married William E. Baker on November 20, 1953 and they moved to Independence, MO. she was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 30 years as a Reports Clerk in the Toll Department.
She and her husband loved to travel and they enjoyed numerous trips to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and Canada.
Her favorite places were Hawaii, Switzerland and Germany. She loved gardening and was an avid bird watcher. She adored her dog, Jenny Lynn and all little puppy dogs.
After retiring she did volunteer work at the Medical Center of Independence for 15 years in addition to volunteering at the Independence, MO Police Department in the property and Evidence department for 10 years.
Survivors include her husband, William Baker, married for 62 years, of the home; three children, Connie Frazier, Sharon Seeright, Dawn McGrew.
