Dave was born in Council Bluffs to the late Roy G. and Freda (Gress) Beck and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High with the Class of 1953. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. Dave began his working years on his own small farm, where he built a strong foundation for the life ahead of him. He later moved into sales at John Deere. In 1969, he married his beloved Roberta, and together they began raising their family. Dave went on to work at Baum Iron, where he eventually retired, and also enjoyed a part-time position at Target for many years.
Faith and community were central to Dave's life, he served his church faithfully, from ushering to teaching youth Sunday School, and he was an active part of his son's scouting troop. He loved gathering with his family, especially for game nights around the dining room table.
Dave had a lifelong love of animals and never turned away a stray; many found a home with him, with his final companion being his cherished cat, Amy. He enjoyed a cold beer, good music of all kinds, and the simple joy of time spent with loved ones.
Dave will be remembered for his determination and self-reliance, he rarely asked for help, finding a way to make things happen with ingenuity, perseverance, and that familiar glint in his eye. With his ready smile and steadfast spirit, he lived a life full of love, faith, family, and resilience.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 41 years, Roberta; and his brother, Richard.
