Della Mae (Hollis) Verdict was born in Elgin, Oklahoma to the late Claude and Berttie (Bennett) Hollis, on November 16, 1926. From Elgin, the family moved to Alton, Missouri, where she left home at 17 yrs old to seek employment in St. Louis, Missouri. After 3 short years, Della moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Finally, she moved to Independence, Missouri and spent the next 69 years calling it home.
Della Mae was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker, an Avon sales representative and retired from the Jones Co. after many years of dedicated service as an associate.
In Della’s spare time she could be spotted in her garden, enjoying a good book, spending time with her family and traveling the United States. She had an extra special place in her heart for her grandchildren.
Della belonged to the social group, 4 Season’s and was a member of Coventry Estate’s Baptist Church.
Della is preceded in death by her parents; Claude and Berttie, her brothers; Jim, Buck, Joe and Perry, sister; Leta, daughter; Bobbie, sons-in-law; Ronald and Danny and granddaughter; Suzanne.
She is survived by her sister; Marie, daughters; Claudia and Debbie, grandchildren; Keith (Erin), Mike (Jenn), Ronda (Mike), TJ, Nicki and Samantha. 15 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Della will be greatly missed by her family and all the people that had the privilege of knowing her.
