Freda was born in Independence, MO, to Maurice and Mildred (Fisher).
Freda graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1960 where she met and married the love of her life, Everett. Freda was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for 42 years before retiring.
Freda had a big personality and a whip-smart sense of humor. She loved to play cards– Blitz was her favorite. She loved to host her family for lunch just as an excuse to get everyone together. She’d ensure her great grandsons’ favorite foods were on the menu, there were drinks in the fridge, and ice cream bars in the freezer.
She is survived by her son Everett L. Murphy (Denise) and her daughter Kim Dominick (Brian), her grandchildren Cassandra VanNatta (Jimmy), Brittany Anthony (Travis), Andrew Dominick (Samantha), Courtney Hays (Ben), and her great grandsons Christian Hurshman, Tristyn Hurshman, James VanNatta, Kai Hurshman, Miles Dominick, her sisters Valeria Morton, Mary Bellamy (Roy), Janet Miller (Harold), Margaret Rush (Don), Judi Spake (Larry), Patty Fredle, and her brothers Butch and Bobby.
She is preceded in death, by only 20 days, by her husband of 65 years Everett Murphy, her son Danny; her sister, Sharon Woodcock, her brothers Ronnie Van Maele, Rodney Van Maele, John Richard Van Maele; and her parents.
There will be a visitation service on May 29th from 5:00-7:00 pm and funeral services on May 30th at 10:00 am, both at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel at 509 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64050. Private burial to come
