

Grace Elizabeth Cummins, 92, died peacefully at home on August 14, 2021. Visitation is Thursday, August 19th from 6pm to 8pm at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel. Funeral Service will be 10am Friday, August 20th at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel with burial following in Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery.
Grace was born on April 21, 1929 in Independence, MO on a neighbor’s kitchen table to Jim and Velma Newport. She was the oldest of 4 children and the only daughter. She was a lifelong resident of the Independence area.
Grace married William (Bill) Cummins, Sr. by proxy in 1951 and had another ceremony when she met him in Germany during his deployment that same year. They had 4 children. She was unassuming and very self-reliant including mowing her own grass up until she was 91 with a push mower. She enjoyed horror and sci-fi movies, Dr. Who, gardening, going to garage sales, eating out, jigsaw puzzles, and seeing new places. She was also a skilled artist. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Bill; 2 grandsons, Thomas and William III; and her 3 brothers. She is survived by her children: Janet Peitsmeyer, Janice Kampe and husband Terry, Billie Davis, and William (Bill) Cummins, Jr. and wife Samara. She was blessed with 12 grandkids, 23 great grandkids, and 11 great-great grandkids.
