

Harry was born November 12, 1928, in Independence, Missouri to Paul F. and Lillie A. (Henning) Hommes. Harry was a Corporal in the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Harry was a High School math teacher for the Kansas City, Missouri School District. (Harry was a member of Veterans affairs, and loved fishing at the lake, coin collecting and enjoyed all types of sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Hildegarde (Gustafson), brothers Robert "Bob" and Wayne "Bud", and sisters Pauline and June.
Harry was survived by his 2 sons, Kurt (Catherine) and Kyle (Rockele "Rocky") Hommes. Grandchildren Kyle Ewart, Stephen Hommes, granddaughter Kayla (Nathan) Harrington and Tyler (Brittany) Hommes and Great Grandsons Waylon Hommes and Braxton Harrington
Service will be Friday October 10, 2025, 11:00 am at St Luke’s United Church of Christ, 727 N Main St, Independence, Missouri 64050. Meal type event at am legions post 21 noon to 2 pm. Family will receive friends Thursday October 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00pm Newcomer’s Noland Rd Chapel, 509 S Noland Rd, Independence, Missouri 64050. Inurnment with full military honors at a later date Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
