Helen M Coffman, age 96, of Independence, passed away August 4, 2016. She was born July 24, 1920 in Concordia, Mo to Louis and Alma (Nieman) Bergman. She grew up on the family farm in Concordia, MO. She married Denzile Coffman and began raising a family of 2 daughters, Mary and Kathy. After the daughters were raised, Helen worked as a cook with the Independence School district. She retired from that position in 1976. Helen enjoyed gardening, crafts of all types, babysitting, sewing, making quits and helping everyone she could. She also volunteered with the local Girls Scouts and was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Independence. Preceeded in death by her husband, Denzile, 1 sister and 4 brothers. She is survived by Daughters: Mary L. Kolesik of Plattsmouth, NE and Kathy A McCloud of Independence. 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 gr great grandchildren.
