
James B. McQuerry, age 91, of Independence, passed away March 25, 2017. Private services will be held at a later date. James was born May 19, 1925 in Kansas City, Mo. to James B and Jessie May (Anderson) McQuerry. He was raised and educated in Independence, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1943. He married Juanita Mae Thompson on September 11, 1945, in Independence. She passed Oct 27, 2009. Juanita and James were inseparable. They raised four children; Linda, Tim, James L, James R. He served his country during World War II as an engineer in the US Army. He was trained as a demolition expert. He participated in 2 major battles in the Philippines. After the war, James returned from active duty and worked for Missouri Gas Energy for 39 years. He retired in 1990. His hobbies included, reading, gardening, and woodworking. Regional travel with Juanita to Branson and horse racing at Ak-sar-ben. James served as a deacon at the Eden Heights RLDS. Both he and Juanita were long serving members of the church. Preceded in death by sisters; Mary Lou, Martha, Jill. He is survived by his children, sister Joan Fox, grandchildren, great grandchildren, gr great grandchildren.
