James Wiley Reed, age 84, of Independence, passed away August 26, 2017. Visitation service, Thursday, August 31, 2017, 10am, Funeral Service 11am. All services at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel. Private Burial. He was born in Swain, AR to Marion and Goldie (Cowan) Reed on June 20, 1933. James graduated from Deer High School and served his country in the Korean War. He married Ruth Oglesby on June 21, 1956 in Kansas City, Mo. They moved to Fayetteville, AR where he attended University of Arkansas. He graduated with a BS degree in mechanical engineering. In 1961, James started working for Hallmark Cards. Preceded in death by brother; Denver Reed, and sister; Myrtle Barnard He is survived by wife; Ruth. Sons; Jerry Reed and Robert Reed.
