Jarrod Montgomery Blake April 18, 1982- December 6th, 2016

Jarrod Montgomery Blake was born to Sandra Lynn Walker Blake and Charles Duncan Blake at 3:16 a.m. on Sunday April 18th, 1982 in Independence, Missouri. Literally 16 minutes after arriving at the hospital; he hit the ground running and never slowed down. There has probably never been a more spirited and fun loving child than Jarrod. A fact that his teachers, coaches and friends will surely attest to. He was very athletic, playing football, basketball and lots of baseball. He once said "If it's a ball- I'm gonna play with it." This past summer he enjoyed sharing and teaching his Son Dylan to play baseball. Jarrod was also a huge Royal’s and Chiefs fan and he loved to go fishing every chance he got. His grin and smile were infectious and he made and kept friends very easily. Those who really knew Jarrod couldn't help but love him. Jarrod was a wonderful and loving Grandson, Son, Brother, Father, Uncle, Nephew and Friend. He was a blessing to us all. Jarrod graduated from Fort Osage High School in 2000 and was most recently employed with Artisan Roofing and Guttering where he was considered a very dependable and valued employee as well as a good friend. Jarrod is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary and Jerrel Walker of Conway, Arkansas. Jarrod will be missed by his paternal Grandparents Pearl and Arthur Norquay of Riverside, Missouri. His Mother Sandra Lynn Walker Blake of Lee's Summit, Missouri. His Father Chuck Blake of Parkville, Missouri His older Brother Daniel E. Blake, Daniel's wife Stephanie and their Daughter Ashlynn Faith of Lee's Summit, Missouri. His younger Sister Amy Lynn Blake and her Daughter Lila Raye of Riverside, Missouri. His Son Dylan Avery Blake and Dylan's little sister Ciara Renae and their Mother Anna Yazel of Kansas City, Missouri. Jarrod is also survived by several Aunts,Uncles, Cousins as well as his many, many Friends. Jarrod was a very good man who loved his God, his family and his friends deeply. Jarrod and his Son Dylan had a special bond. They were practically inseparable. Jarrod believed that there was no stronger love than a Father's love for his Son. A sentiment obvious to those who knew Dylan and Jarrod. Jarrod and Ciara had a unique relationship that was anchored by their love of one another. He was a great Father to both Dylan and Ciara. Jarrod was very beloved and will be fondly remembered by all of us who loved him and called him our friend. The Blake Family would like to express how very grateful we are for the hundreds of thoughts, prayers, support and contributions we've received during our time of grief. We are quite humbled. Please remember that there are others involved who are still recovering and will need our support well into the future. We would also like to say that while we do seek justice, we trust in God to deliver it however He sees fit. As difficult as it may seem right now, Forgiveness is ours to develop. As long as we are able to forgive others, God will also forgive us. So please, let's get rid of anger and rage and find compassion and kindness and the strength to forgive. Jarrod would want that for all of us. We ask that you honor him by having a generous and forgiving heart. God Bless you all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of your family, friends, coworkers and too all who have been touched by this tragedy. I remember Jarrod as a wonderful child who sat at my daughter's little table for tea parties just to make her happy. He would come across Dickenson Rd. In Independence to play with my step-son and daughter. He was such a polite well-mannered child. People like him are few and far between. So blessed to have known him for such a short time. Have often wondered where he was after he grew up.
