Johnny Brim, 56, of Independence, MO, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 7, 2021 at his home. Johnny came into this world as a little firecracker born on the 4th of July, 1964. He was a 1982 graduate of William Chrisman High School and spent the first part of his career working for his family owned business restoring and cleaning oriental rugs. Later he worked as a service technician for an office equipment company. Johnny enjoyed spending holidays and weekends with his family and especially enjoyed spending time at the family lake house in Lake of the Ozarks.
Most of the time, Johnny could be found at B&D Skate Center where he spent all of his free time. Johnny started working there as a floor guard when he was 16 and never left. He has so many lifelong friends he has met over the years at the rink and he treasured each one of them. Anytime we wanted to visit Johnny, we knew to stop by the rink because that is probably where he was. He enjoyed pulling the float every year for the rink in the Independence Halloween parade and all of the times he spent with Duffy.
Johnny had a heart of gold and was always willing to help out family and friends. Whether it was doing their yardwork, chopping wood, helping them fix something or even loaning them money. He would give his last nickel to a friend in need.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, John and Carolyn (Sue) Brim. Johnny’s spirits live on through his daughter Courtney Brim; sister Terri Lewis and husband, Chris; brother Gary Brim; sister Dana Hobbs and husband, Mike; brother Mark Brim; and sister Denise Shatto. Johnny had many nieces and nephews but had a special bond with Taylor Brim; Josh & Justin Lewis; Brian, Austin & Alyssa Brim; and Thomas Hobbs. He is also survived by great nephews and great nieces as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
RIP Johnny. You will be missed. Let’s all return to all skate now.
