

Lennie Darlene Hessenflow, 75, of Independence, MO, passed away at home on November 27, 2021. She passed away exactly three years to the day of her husband. She worked for J.I. Case/International Harvester for over 30 years before retiring. She passed away due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. She loved to read, she loved to work in her yard on her flowers, (she had a really green thumb), her favorite color was lavender, she also enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, Mash, Blue Bloods and she enjoyed watching the K.C. Chiefs play football. She had a wonderful sense of humor and sometimes she had a sarcastic sense of humor. You could always tell by her smile if she was being sarcastic or not. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald Hessenflow, her parents, Fred and Maude Lemka, her sister, Janette Moss, and two brothers, Charlie Lemka and Fredrick Lemka. She is survived by two daughters, Alicia Hessenflow, Independence, MO and Stacia Hessenflow, Kansas City, MO, one granddaughter, Kristina Hessenflow, Independence, MO, one sister, Bernice Mitchell, Grain Valley, MO, one brother, Leonard Lemka, Neosho, MO and several nieces and nephews. Her wish was to be cremated. The family is having Memorial Service on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Independence Fire Fighters Union Hall, 320 E Pacific Ave., Independence, MO 64050. Graveside servies will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. If you would like to send flowers, please send them to the home.
