

Late Uncle Loku Jada Nyarsuk (Loku Seid) was born on January 1, 1956, in Loggut Village, Yapa Boma, Lobonok Payam, Central Equatoria State, South Sudan, to the late Aujenio Gore Nyarsuk Jijing Jada of the Bari Bekat Monabor Clan and the late Aurelia Poni Tombek of the Bunuk Clan of Loggut. He was the tenth of twelve children in his family. He received his primary education at Comboni School in Bahri, Sudan, and later completed his secondary education at Juba Day Secondary School in 1983.
In 1982, he married Natalina Lawrence Mogga, and together they were blessed with two children, Lurit Loku Jada and Jada Loku Jada. In 1987, he travelled to Iraq for work and remained there until 1989, when he returned to Khartoum, Sudan. In 1990, he relocated to Cairo, Egypt, where he became actively involved in community affairs and the South Sudanese liberation struggle, SPLM/A.
From 1992 to 1996, Uncle Loku served as Chairman of the Bari Community in Cairo. During his tenure, he established Bari language classes to help Bari children and youth in exile preserve their language, culture, and identity. He also served as the program's head teacher, mentoring many young people and making a lasting contribution to the preservation of Bari cultural heritage. He was also an active and highly respected member of the SPLM/A during the liberation struggle.
Before resettling in the United States in 1996, Uncle Loku proposed to Anna Modi, with whom he later celebrated a Catholic marriage in Cairo, Egypt, in 2000. Together, they built a loving and faithful marriage founded on mutual respect, commitment, and unwavering support for each other.
After settling in the United States, Uncle Loku continued his lifelong service to the South Sudanese community as an elder, mentor, and cultural resource. He served as the SPLM Chapter Chairman in Kansas City, Missouri, from 1998 to 2003, during which he made significant contributions to mobilizing resources and strengthening community support for the liberation cause. The late Dr. John Garang de Mabior recognized his efforts and dedication. He also served for many years as a community elder in Kansas City, Missouri, making significant contributions to community development, unity, mentoring young people to participate in the community, and the welfare of South Sudanese families in the diaspora. He was widely respected as a cultural leader and historian for his extensive knowledge of Bari history, traditions, and customs.
A strong believer in education and lifelong learning, he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2017 while living in Kansas City, Missouri, demonstrating that perseverance and determination can lead to success at any age. Despite facing health challenges, including diabetes, strokes, and kidney disease, Uncle Loku endured with remarkable courage, faith, and resilience. On 12 May 2026, God called him to eternal rest.
Uncle Loku will be remembered for his wisdom, humility, leadership, kindness, dedication to preserving Bari culture, unwavering Catholic faith, and outstanding service to the SPLM and the South Sudanese community. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations and live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
May the soul of our beloved uncle, brother, father, grandfather, and community leader, Loku Jada Nyarsuk (Loku Seid), rest in eternal glory. Amen.
Visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 309 S Stewart Rd, Liberty, Missouri 64068, on July 11, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. James Catholic Church.
