

Marilyn Yvonne Gumminger, 87, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her son's house in Blue Springs, Missouri while under hospice care and surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025.
She was born on December 16, 1937 in Marshall, MO to her father Harry Cross and Bertha (Blumm) Cross. She later moved to Kansas City, MO where she graduated high school from Loretta Academy.
In October of 1955 she united in marriage to Teddy F. Gumminger of Kansas City, MO and started a family of seven, five boys and two girls. She had several jobs in the KC area but the ones she bragged about the most was her job at the gas company, McGrew color graphics, and her job at the deli at Robandee Grocery Center where she made a crowd pleasing sandwich everyone loved. She was known for her loving personality, always positive attitude even when times were hard, as well as giving what she could to help others and was known as a second mother to neighborhood kids. Her hobbies included the outdoors with her family such as watching her kids play football, baseball, and cheerleading as well as fishing, camping, and large holiday gatherings. She loved to garden, cook, and even dabbled in crochet. She had a beautiful smile and contagious laugh and always made everyone feel welcomed. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Marilyn is survived by; all of her children, two girls, Colette Thompson of Blue Springs, and Vickey Norman of Raytown, five boys, Teddy F Gumminger Jr. of Kansas City, Steve Gumminger of Kansas City, Frank Gumminger of Kansas City, Brian Gumminger of Blue Springs, and Timmy Gumminger of Kansas City, as well as two wonderful daughter-in-laws, Shari Gumminger w/ Brian and Joi Gumminger w/ Frank, two future son-in-laws Tom Box w/ Vickey and Steve w/ Colette. 10 grandkids, Cory, Marissa, Chelsea, Christopher, Brenton, Chadwick, Megan, Allie, Abby, Pracilla, and several great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and her beloved sister Mina Harriman of Wright City, MO.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Cross and mother, Bertha (Blumm) Cross. Her husband Teddy F. Gumminger, two brothers, Harold Cross and Bob Cross, four sisters, Norma McGrath, Vera Byrns, Wilma Lunsford, and Phyllis Ade.
Marilyn Gummingers Services will be held on Wednesday September 3rd at LaLande Parish in Blue Springs Mo.805 NW RD MIZE RD BLUE SPRINGS MO. 64015
The showing will start at 10 am followed by the Rosery at 10:40 and the Mass will start at 11am.
After the Mass, we will then proceed to Mt. Olivet cemetery for a graveside service.
