Mildred (Millie) Laurana Krueger Duncan, age 98. She was born February 25, 1922. She lived her entire life in Independence, Missouri. She died November 15, 2020 in Independence, Missouri. She was the third of seven children born to Fred and Mary Krueger. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1940. She married the love of her life Russell G. Duncan, Jr. on May 24, 1946. She had two boys, Randall G. Duncan and Charles R. Duncan. She also had a daughter, Janice, who was stillborn. On December 7, 1941, she and Helen Duncan, Russell’s sister was visiting him in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. When news came about Pearl Harbor, everyone was ordered to leave the base. Then Russell was sent to Army basic training. He never saw home again for 42 months. During a portion of the time that he was away, Millie worked at B.O.P. (now Fairfax plant) to help build B-25 bombers. Russell returned after the war and they married. And so together they built a life that they loved. They lived in the best of times. In 1956, they helped build a church of which they were charter members, Bethel Baptist Church in Independence. They were members until their death. The church was the center of their lives for them and their family. Russell retired and they started traveling. They went to Israel, other European countries and spent several winters in SouthTexas. She loved her flowers and gardening. She loved gardening so much that she took a job as a florist. She also made many beautiful quilts. She cared for Russell when he had health issues and she said that she grew to be a stronger person because of the care she provided for him. She lost the love of her life in 2003. She always enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She loved to fish. In these past few years, she spent as much time as she could sitting on her deck to enjoy the sun and fresh air. Millie is survived by her two sons, Randall (Randy) Duncan and Charles (Chuck) Duncan. Two daughters-in-law, Lynda and Rocchonne. Grandchildren Robert W. Duncan, Keri Brewster, Jennifer Duncan, Shawn Kwan, Shiyloh Becerril, Caleb J. Duncan and Seth Duncan. Many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved the Lord, her husband, her family and she lived a very full life. We will miss her beautiful smile.
