
Ike was born in Independence, MO., on April 4, 1926. He was the
son of the late Paul C. and Grace Daniel. In 1944, he graduated at semester at
William Chrisman High School to join the United States Navy,
where he attended tail gunner school, and later during WWII,
was deployed to the South Pacific. After the war, he attended
the University of Missouri in Columbia for two years, and pledged ATO Fraternity.
Ike was a lifelong Independence resident, and as a young man
a very talented artist. He turned down an offer
to be an illustrator for Walt Disney and married Elizabeth "Betty" Penyock
on October 2, 1954. He worked for Jackson County, MO., and
Lake City Ammunition Plant prior to opening Danco Oil Company in Blue Springs.
Ike was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus.
Ike was an avid Mizzou Tigers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish Fan,
as well as KC Chiefs and Royals fan. Survivors include daughters,
Ann (Mike) Beninato and Kathleen (Brent) Burmeister; son, Luke (Tammy) Daniel;
sister, Pam (George) Indelicato; grandchildren, Matthew (Alyssa) Boatright, Thor Burmeister,
Thaddeus Burmeister, Gary Burmeister, Jackson Daniel and Whitney Boynton;
sister-in-law, Virginia Baker; brother-in-law, Tom Pott; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, and brother, Marion "Cork" Daniel.
