

Peter Allen Gengler, 63, of Independence, passed away on May 4, 2017. Visitation on Friday, May 12, from 10-11am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO, 64055. Burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Peter was born on September 26, 1953, to Arnold and Edna Gengler in Watertown, South Dakota. Peter loved going to Nova Center Adult Day Care every day, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching old time shows and movies, loved the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and listening to the oldies. Peter was known for dressing up in different hats, pins and t-shirts. Peter also took pride in helping his roommates. Preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Edna Gengler, brothers Charles and Nicholas Gengler, and a nephew Chad Nanneman. Peter is survived by, brothers John (Joyce) Gengler, Steve (Debbie) Gengler, sisters; Karen (Roger) Sanders and Cathy (Gene) Butterfield, and another brother David (Cindy) Gengler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family has requested donations be made to Nova Center so they may take Peter’s friends to a Royals game in his honor. A special thanks to Caleb Harris and staff for all of your help in taking good care of our brother Peter and also a big thanks to the Nova adult day care for treating Peter like he was you own brother, we love you all!
