

Raymond Gordon McCown was born on December 28, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri. Ray passed away on October 17, 2024 due primarily to the effects of COPD. He was 75 years old. He was a graduate of Truman High School in 1967 and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as part of the Korea Occupation Force 1968-1970 in the 2nd Infantry Division, Armored (tank driver). Ray was skilled in a number of areas working as a Welding Technician, Door Machine Operator (residential door fabricator) and Warehouseman/Loader operator. His personal interests included drawing, painting, wood carving and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Julia McCown, his brother-in-law Bill Whitehouse, and his grandparents, James and Edna McCown, Docia Moretini and Archie Rice, and he is survived by his brother Steven McCown (Marcia) and his twin sisters, Phyllis Whitehouse and Patricia Spears, his nephew Barry Spears (Andrea Caspari) and his uncle, Bill Moretini (Jim Peters).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with services to follow at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel located at 509 S. Noland Road, Independence MO 64050.
