
Ruby Cook, 92, Independence, Missouri went to meet her savior and Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2017. Ruby was born April 24, 1925 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland and Ella Mae (Davis) Cooper. Ruby was united in marriage to James Paris Cook on February 7, 1948. They lived in Stilwell, Oklahoma until they moved to Independence in 1949.
Ruby was a homemaker and was employed by the Independence School District in Nutrition services before she retired in 2007. Ruby attended Independence First Church of God where she unselfishly gave her time working and participating in Sunday School, VBS, Sisterhood of Christ and the Social Committee. Ruby loved collecting dolls, sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family.
Ruby is survived by her three daughters, Linda Lurten (Buddy), Brenda Stagner and Glenda Foley (John); five grandchildren, Glenna Lurten, Michael Lurten, Nicholas Foley (Whitney), Daniel Stagner(Jacquie) and Matt Stagner (Molly); eight great-grandchildren, Cody Gardner, Addison Gardner, Ella Foley, Lenora Stagner, Mirella Stagner, Finn Stagner, Rory Stagner and Willa Stagner; one brother, George Cooper and one sister, Opal Strange. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband James Paris Cook; her parents, Grover Cleveland and Ella Mae (Davis) Cooper; two grandsons, Eric Lurten and Christopher Foley, and son-in-law, Ray Stagner; five brothers and three sisters.
Ruby always put her family first and her daughters were blessed to have her for their mother. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Independence First Church of God in Ruby’s memory.
Visitation will be Thursday, December, 21, 2017, 10am at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel with funeral service at 11am, burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
