Russell D. Adkins, age 60, of Independence, Missouri, passed away November 1, 2017. Russell was born June 29, 1957 to the late Lawrence Adkins and surviving Glenda (Johnston) Adkins. Russell was a security officer for many years at Menorah Medical Center where he met lifetime friends. He enjoyed recounting the unique experiences he had during his time there. He volunteered with Camp Quality for a number of years and was passionate about helping children with cancer. Russell was happiest when spending time with his friends and family or watching his favorite sports teams. He is survived by sons Brandon (Nikki) Adkins and Shawn Adkins; daughter Michelle (Alex) Scott; granddaughter Nora Scott; sisters Toni (George) Bond and Tammie Lance.The visitation will be November 4, 2017 (11–1 pm) at Noland Road Chapel in Independence, Missouri. The service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Atkinson.
