He was born on August 28, 1969, in Santiago Tangamandapio Michoacán, Mexico to Antonio Vega Alvarez and Margarita Mejia Coyazo. Santiago deeply loved his wife, Carmen of 22 years, and his family. He especially cherished spontaneous trips to the fairs and carnivals with his nieces and nephews and arriving at Nana’s on Sundays ready to hand out his big bag of blow pops.
He enjoyed nature, watching sunsets and moonrises, and dancing in the rain. Saturday mornings you could find him at a good yard sale always bringing something special he thought you would like. Music such as Romantic Latin and The Doors as well as talking about his 69 Chevy Chevelle was always an easy way to make him smile.
Above all, Santiago loved Carmen’s cooking. He shared with pride the delicious meals and baked goods she prepared for anyone who would listen.
He was preceded in death by his Father Antonio Vega Alvarez, Sister Margarita Vega, Brother Jesus Vega, and Brother-in-law Francisco Rincon.
Santiago is survived by his devoted wife Carmen Diaz Vega, his mother, Margarita Mejia de Vega; his brother Antonio Vega (wife Kimberly); and his 4 sisters, Rosa Vega-Gonzalez, Margarita Vega, Erika Vega Holbrook (husband Andy), and Natalia Rey (husband Corey). He also leaves behind, 21 nieces and nephews (God Children), 11 great nieces and nephews.
