Steve was born on January 8, 1963, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Harlan and Margaret Jason. He grew up in Minnesota as the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. He moved to Kansas City shortly after high school to begin his lifelong career as an over-the-road truck driver.
He was married two times: first to Lynn Ward, with whom he had one son, Zach, and then to Terry Evans, with whom he had a second son, Malcolm. Steve is survived by his eight siblings, his two sons, and his 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Audrey, Bennett, and Harlan.
