Wanda "Darlene" Pelton

Wanda “Darlene” Pelton Sanders, 75 of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. Darlene was born Feb. 1, 1943, to John Henry and Helen Hays in Kansas City, MO.

Darlene is survived by her soul mate Douglas Sanders of Independence, MO., daughter; Maryls Allison, granddaughters; Sara and Rachel Allison of Independence, MO.

Darlene retired from the Mid-Continent public library where she worked as a system operator. Darlene was a member of at the VFW Post 1000 and the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her time spent with her friends and her grandma and little people dinners with her daughter and granddaughters. Darlene was a two time breast cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saint Jude’s and the VFW cancer fund.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 31 6-8 pm, Funeral Service on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10 am, services held at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64050. Burial at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., KC, MO. A celebration of life will follow all services at the VFW post 1000, 1002 E. US 24 HWY, Independence, MO.
