Dorothy was so proud and loved each grandchild and great-grandchild and had lots of wonderful memories.
Dorothy was born in the Blackwood District, 12 miles north of Sintaluta, Saskatchewan. Dorothy married Jackie Durrell Serson on July 9, 1952. They lived on their farm, located south of number one highway and half way between Sintaluta and Indian Head, Saskatchewan. It was busy times for Dorothy with six children and working on a farm, but she would not have had it any other way. Dorothy still had time to enjoy the beauty in life. She grew the biggest gardens and loved her flowers. She was a baker, cook and mother, all while helping out on the farm. Dorothy also enjoyed music, piano and what beautiful dancers Jack and Dorothy were. Dorothy also enjoyed her church, prayers and hymns. Dorothy also was active in curling, golfing, cake decorating, camping and family gatherings were her fondest memories. It didn’t matter how many showed up, she could feed them all and find beds for everyone.
Jack and Dorothy retired from the farm and moved into Indian Head in 1999. Unfortunately Jack passed away in 2000. Dorothy stayed in their house in town until she moved into Hayes Haven, Indian Head and later she transferred to Lakeside Nursing home in Wolseley.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Lakeside Nursing Home for their love and excellent care and attention they provided daily, especially during the final days of her life. The professionalism and compassion shown will never be forgotten.
A family directed public graveside service was held in the Indian Head Cemetery on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. with Lynette Callfas officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews United Church Memorial Fund, Box 354, Indian Head, SK, S0G 2K0 or to the Lakeside Nursing Home, Box 10, Wolseley, SK, S0G 5H0.
