He was predeceased by his parents Ed and Mary Poitras and brothers Chester and Eric Poitras.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife Myra; beloved daughter Sarah; brother Donald (Bobbie) Poitras; sisters Sharon Poitras and Barbara (Rick) Mohr and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Indian Head, Saskatchewan, on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will take place in the Indian Head Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit in the Pasqua Hospital for all the care and support provided during this difficult time.
