Ada Katherine Anderson

“Kat” or “Shorty” was a few nicknames friends and family affectionately called her.

She attended and graduated from Tech High School.

She worked many jobs. Her longest tenured job was at Kroger as a Key Punch operator. But she loved to name all of jobs when asked and she enjoyed each one of them.

She was a member of Light of the World Christian Church since birth. She actively volunteered at the pantry and several other organizations within the church. She looked forward to attending church every week.

She was married to Howard Anderson on Oct 21,1972 at Second Christian Church by Bishop T. Garrot Benjamin Jr. They were blessed to be married for 50 years before his passing in 2024.

She loved to cook for everyone. She was a very giving person She always made you feel welcome. She made sure you left with something a box of food, a piece of jewelry or whatever she had to offer. She never let anyone leave empty handed.

She loved to travel, play card games with family and love tending to her yard. It had to be perfect.

Her favorite quote “Once a task is just begun, never leave it till it’s done. Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all”

These were words we all lived by if you were raised in her household.

Ada Katherine Anderson departed life on Saturday September 12, 2026, at the age of 79. Her parents, siblings, daughter and granddaughter proceeded her in death: Parents Cobie and Willia Mae Jefferson. Five Brothers Alex, Willie, Robert, Jim and Cobie Jr Jefferson. Two Sisters Lessie Mae Tardy and Sarah Jefferson. Daughter Tracey Woods. Granddaughter Latracia Hatcher and a Bonus son Samuel Brown

She leaves to cherish in her memory one daughter. Dr. Chrystal Anderson. Brother Rev. Dr. Edward Lewis Jefferson(Joy) and Sister Dorthy Shields. Grandchildren Sara Roper, Cameron Lee, Jalen Brown, Olyvia Brown and Paige Brown and Great Grandkids Mia’la Offett, DeMiah and DeMari Mason and host of nieces, nephews and extended family
