Aliza Barnes was born in Rochester, New York to Richard Barnes and Joyce Woodley-Barnes. She wasn’t married, even though this relationship wasn’t permanent with Steven D Brown, they did have one child together and remained in touch throughout their lives. She graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana. Continue her education earning her associate degree in accounting and coding. Also earning her bachelor and master’s in psychology. She worked 14 years in Indianapolis Public Schools serving most her time at Cold Springs Middle School. The love of helping children landed her at Meaningful Day Service as a behavioral consultant working with children diagnosed with autism, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder.
Her most favorable thing to do was travel. Whether it was by car, boat, or plane, she was going to take a trip. She loved to visit any city with a beachfront. She used to say, “I wish traveling therapy was covered by my health insurance”. Sharing memorable adventures with family and friends. She also enjoyed attending a good old comedy show. She loved her some Arnez J.
Aliza is preceded in death by her father, Richard Barnes.
Aliza is survived by her mother, Joyce Woodley-Barnes; son, Rashad Brown (Taiyonna) and Steven Brown, Jr; sister, Katrina Barnes; son’s father, Steven Brown; nephew, Jamil Barnes; niece, Michelle Barnes; grandchildren: Shamya Brown, Channing Allen, Xavier Brown, Rhaelyn Brown, Nadia Brown, Aidan Brown, Ramel Brown and Giyonna Brown.
A visitation for Tish will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 12:00 PM followed by a repass at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
