He joined Second Baptist Church of Mayslick, Kentucky at an early age. After High School, he joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge on September 14, 1962. Allen relocated to Indianapolis where he retired from General Motors as a Supervisor in 1992.
His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He was loyal and loving to his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Elizabeth Porter; daughter: Donna Stinson (Andre), Sons: David Porter, Preston Porter (Paulette), Ashby Alexander, and Victor Alexander. Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, two sisters: Carol Bolden and Anna Robinson; nieces: Christie Yates, Ashley Hunt, Tonya Turner, Penny Martinez, and Iris Jackson.
