Anita L. Henderson

Anita Henderson, 83 years young, passed away Tuesday, December 27th in the presence of her loving family. She was the daughter of Helen Sowders and Chuck Shearer. She grew up in Indianapolis with her brother Charles Shearer, graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. She was married to Jim Henderson for 32 years, becoming a proud mother of two children Carrie McWhorter and Jimmy Henderson. Anita retired from IU Hospital as a secretary and was there for 30+ years. However, the job she loved the most was being mom to Jimmy and Carrie. Being an amazing mom was Anitas main goal in life which she achieved. She loved attending all of Carrie and Jimmy’s athletic games, being a proud mom. She made sure her kids knew they were deeply loved daily.

Anita was a Christian, a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Mooresville, who loved the Lord with all her heart and her faith was very strong. She loved and appreciated her family and her many wonderful friends and had a way of making everyone feel special. Her love for taking care of and helping other families and their animals will forever be remembered by those she touched.

Anita’s zest for life took her to many places creating lifelong memories such as: Ireland, Hawaii, Elderhostel, The Grand Canyon & Sailing with the Elderhostel in Gulf Shores, Alabama with Donna Clair, Ocean City Maryland with Wendy Silliman, & Florida with family. Her hobbies were attending the Indy 500, Pacers and Colts games. You could often hear her saying some of her favorite sayings “We are blessed or Geez Louise Sadie!”

Anita leaves behind her loving family members to cherish her memory: Carrie (Daughter) & Ben McWhorter (Son in-law), Jimmy Henderson (Son), Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces & Nephews. She will be welcomed by loving family members who preceded her in death: Helen Sowders (Mother), Chuck Shearer (Father), Charles Shearer (Brother), Jim Henderson (Former Husband), Grand Mothers, Grandfathers, Aunts and Uncles.
