Arthur Noel Mernone passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday July 30, 2026. Art was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday, December 23, 1943, to Viola Chaff, who lovingly raised her only son. After graduating from Berea High School, he attended Cleveland State University, graduating with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering. He then moved to Indianapolis to work for the Naval Avionics Center. A brilliant and dedicated engineer, he spent his entire 48-year career with the organization, retiring after it became known as Raytheon.
He was the consummate gentleman, approaching his role as a husband, father, and grandfather with the same integrity, kindness, and dedication that characterized every aspect of his life. His passions included photography, hot rods, table tennis, and model railroading. His legacy is the values and knowledge shared with his sons.
Art is survived by his wife, Nancy Mernone; her son Ben Rains; and Art's son Brad Mernone. He will be laid to rest at Crown Hill cemetery following services at St. Stephen Orthodox Church on Saturday August 8, 2026 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wheeler Mission Ministries.
