Barbara Ann Jones, age 72, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Barbara was born in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Marie (Unverfurth) Fortenbury and Merle Fortenbury. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Fortenbury. Barbara met her husband of 51 years, Ralph, while in high school. They shared a special bond right away that never faded, just as she still wore the necklace he got her as a teenager. Barbara and Ralph would have 2 daughters before she would return to school to get her associates in radiology. Her career path led her to become the Chief of Operations for OrthIndy. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church where she was very active and on the Guild of St. Augustine Little Sisters of the Poor. Above all these things she loved her role as grandmother the most.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Ralph Jones; daughters, Caryn Del Preto (Joe) and Elizabeth Khorana (Anil); sister, Sandra Juckno (Michael) and Suzanne Hearn (Ben); brothers, Richard Fortenbury (Jo) and Bill Fortenbury; and grandchildren, Joey Del Preto, Matthew Del Preto, Lia Del Preto, Kaaviya Khorana, Jayan Khorana, and Maya Khorana.
Visitation for Barbara will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E 71st St Indianapolis, Indiana 46220 and Monday, June 5, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Dr E, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260. Her Mass of Christian Burial will occur Monday, June 5, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Dr E, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260. She will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
