Barbara Diane Stallings

Barbara Diane Stallings (Moscatello), age 78, passed away peacefully at Maple Park Village in Westfield, Indiana on May 13, 2022. Diane is survived by her daughter Laura Moscatello, son Dominic Moscatello, granddaughter Petra Catsi, sister Patricia Garrett, and nieces and nephews. She was passionate about her family, friends, music, travel, art, and animals. She loved painting, mystery novels, and football, particularly the Denver Broncos. But, deep down, her greatest passions were teaching and performing music, two lifelong skills that she shared with communities worldwide. As a music teacher, she taught and developed programs in Virginia Beach, Virginia; Littleton, Frisco, Breckenridge, and other mountain communities in Colorado; and most recently, at the Savannah Arts Academy in Savannah, Georgia. Her time in Savannah led to one of her proudest moments as a choral conductor in 2012, when her Women’s Cantabile choir was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. In 2018, with help from her sister Pat Garrett and her niece Lou Ann Taylor, Diane was accepted into the Maple Park Village care facility in Westfield, Indiana, next door to Lou Ann and her husband, Steve. We are grateful to Lou Ann and her family for sharing birthdays and holidays with Diane while caring for her for the past four years. Although it was difficult at times, she carried a musical spirit, and she sang and hummed almost to the end. Diane’s life’s work was her commitment to her students. Wherever she lived, her community loved and respected her. She was a favorite among her students and peers and received many accolades, including teacher of the year in Savannah. We recognize her influence and her legacy lives in the people she touched. She will be missed.
