Betty, affectionately known as "Be", was a kindhearted and dedicated school teacher. She began her teaching career at Lincoln High School in Evansville, Indiana and retired from the Indianapolis Public Schools in 1998. She taught countless students for 36 years and was very influential in the lives of many. She received many accolades and awards as an educator. Betty graduated from Evansville College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1962. She continued her education and received her Master of Science in Education from Indiana University in 1973.
In 1968 Betty moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to marry the love of her life, Robert Lee Morgan, Jr. on August 3rd of that same year. They spent forty-nine glorious years together as a loving couple. They loved and cherished their family and friends and enjoyed attending birthday parties, family get-togethers and special events. One of their favorite past times was watching sports together. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2017.
Betty June Watkins was born on May 3, 1932 to Stella (Rucker) and Floyd Watkins. Betty grew up with her two sisters, Bertha Etta Noble and Christine Williamson who preceded her in leaving their earthly home. They were very close and loved visiting their hometown for family gatherings as well as attending their all classes high school reunion at Lincoln High School in Evansville, Indiana.
Betty always brightened your day with her infectious smile. She was so loving, affectionate, sweet, compassionate and was always there to help others. The word "no" was not in her vocabulary. She was a loving wife, stepmother, sister and aunt and a friend to many. After Betty retired, she enjoyed attending exercise classes and monthly birthday lunch celebrations with her friends.
She was a faithful member of Eastern Star Church until she became ill. Her favorite book in the Bible was Psalms. She lived her life just as God wanted her to with love, kindness and integrity in her heart.
She leaves to cherish in her memories: niece, Cheryl E. Watkins, nephew, Dwayne Noble, great niece, Angel Marie Noble, great nephew, Raum Bakari Sandoval and stepdaughter, Joyce Ruffin, close and special cousin, Mary Rucker Steele, special friend, Carrie Ellison and a host of other relatives.
The family of Betty Morgan would like to thank Angel Marie Noble for moving to Indianapolis to take great care of aunt Be. We'd like to send special thanks and appreciation to her friend/caregiver Maxine Collins and her cousin/caregiver Lillian Rucker for everything they did to make Aunt Be comfortable and happy. There's a void in our hearts until we meet again.
The memorial service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 1:30 pm. Arrangements are by Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery,
