Bob Hebenstreit

Hebenstreit, Robert J., Indianapolis, 93, peacefully departed this earth on May 31, 2018. Bob was born December 25, 1924 in Indianapolis to the late Clem J. and Gertrude (Lynch) Hebenstreit and is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Hebenstreit; brother, William Hebenstreit; and sister, Mary Margaret Miller. A graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and Purdue University, he retired in 1987 after a 37-year career with Allison Gas Turbine Co. Bob was a devoted member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, where he chaired the parish’s property committee for more than three decades. “Papa Bob,” as he was known to friends and family, will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile, and warm hospitality during his Birthday/Christmas parties and weekly pool nights. He is survived by his children, Michael Hebenstreit (Robyn Moberly), Thomas Hebenstreit (Pam), Patty Hebenstreit, and Marie Beason (Michael); 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends. His family would like to thank the staff at Traditions at Solana for their expert care and kindness during the past two years. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, June 8, at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46220 and 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, June 9, at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 4052 E 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46218. His Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday at the church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis at a later date.
