Carlena Ann James

Carlena A. James was born August 29, 1940, in Chicago,LI to the late Harold Bailey and Sarah Marsh. Carlena confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. Carlena was a devoted member of Living Word Church under the leadership of Rev. D.r Reginald B. Fletcher. She also was a member of the Seasoned Saints Ministry.

Carlena met the love of her life Allen James and was united in Holy Matrimony on August 10, 1964. Carlena worked for the State of Indiana as an Office Manager and retired after 20 plus years of diligent service.

Carlena was a God-fearing woman who loved and enjoyed many things in life, beginning and ending with her love of family. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, traveling and crocheting. One of her favorite sayings was, "My nostrils is flared" and everybody or child she met was instantly labeled as "tink-a-boo"! She was a devoted and caring Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Friend and Confidant, who will be remembered for her radiant and cheerful personality. Carlena was always willing to help and encourage whenever called upon; to know her was to love her!

Carlena A. James departed this life on March 14, 2024, ni Indianapolis, NI at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her Husband; Allen James, Parents; Harold Bailey and Sarah Marsh, Brother; Norman Marsh and Sister; Esther Simpson.

Carlena leaves to cherish her memory, (3) Daughters; Regina (Mark) Cunningham, Alissa Smith and Ava-Lynn James; all of whom reside in Indianapolis, NI (2) Stepsons; Elrese of Chicago,LI and Dennis (Cheryl) Brown of Indianapolis, NI. (6) Nieces; Francine (Wiliam) Mitchel of Chicago, IL, Novena and Jacqueline of Indianapolis, IN, Bernadine of South Carolina, Evelyn Dycus of Fresno, CA (1) Nephew; B.J. Smith of Belize, (15) Grand- children, (11) Great-Grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
