It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kay Weaver, who peacefully passed away on June 21, 2025, in Avon, Indiana, at the age of 86, in her hospital bed with her two sons, Samuel and Thomas, holding her hands by her side.
Born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, on January 16, 1939, Kay was the cherished daughter of Louis Figerell and Helen Cosper (Kopta). She was a devoted wife to Donald Weaver for 49 years and a loving mother to Samuel Weaver (Kim), David Weaver (Suzanne), and Thomas Weaver (Phyllis), loving Nana to 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Kay was a pillar of strength and love for her family, always prayed for each member daily, gave warm hugs and kisses, prepared delicious meals, and provided unwavering support.
Kay will be remembered for her faith in God, friendliness, devotion to family, and put others' needs first. She selflessly became a Navy wife in 1959, that involved multiple moves in the continental United States and Scotland, Japan, and Hawaii with her three minor sons until her husband retired in 1971. She volunteered as a nurse's aide during the Vietnam War and helped wounded servicemen write to their families. She played cards or board games with them to boost their morale after life-changing injuries.
Kay sold Avon and had a paper route to supplement the family income. She had her own Real Estate business in the 1970s in California and won many awards for multimillion-dollar sales. Her last job she worked was as a senior teller at Hughes Aircraft Employees Federal Credit Union in Orange County, California.
Kay was most recently a member of St Susanna Catholic Church, Red Hat Society, volunteered with Hospice, and would play cards and dominoes any chance she had with her friends six days a week. She would go to Shipshewana, Indiana, for the annual “Pajama Day” with friends to have a fun time and get early discounts for shopping in pajamas. Kay loved to go on bus trips to discover many sites in the United States.
Kay was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Weaver; father Louis Figerell; mother Helen Cosper; sister June Turpin; and sister Barbara Stoke.
She is survived by her children, Samuel Weaver (Kim), David Weaver (Suzanne), and Thomas Weaver (Phyllis), 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
The visitation for Kay will be held Friday, June 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at noon at St Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 E Main St, Plainfield, Indiana 46168 with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service.
Kay will be laid to rest in West Ridge Park Cemetery, 9295 W 21st St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46234.
