Charles Kegley

Charles (“Charlie”) Edward Kegley wants everyone who knew and loved him to know that it’s been “a great ride!” Charlie died peacefully on Monday, March 4 surrounded by family and ready to meet Christ.

He was born in Derby, Virginia on Oct. 6, 1938 to the late Claude and Alice Kegley.

Charlie owned and operated Charles' (Phillips) 66 Service at 16th and Riverside Drive from 1959 to 1997, then retired to Cloverdale, Indiana until 2018. He loved boating, fishing, NASCAR races, the music of Hank Williams, and gardening. He never knew a stranger and always rooted for his Purdue Boliermakers and the Indianapolis Colts.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Gene, Howard, C.W., Carl, Sanford, Richard, Paul, as well as his sisters Mary, Barbara, Margaret, Patricia, and Joyce. He’s survived by his brother Robert (Sylvia), and sisters Judy Willis (Jimmy), Wanda Costin, and Brenda Schindler (Tom).

He’s also survived by his loving wife of 61 years Linda (Lockhart), and their precious daughters (“Charlie’s Angels”) Debbie Wood (Chuck), Linda Kay Kinstle (Dennis), and Charlene Paquin (Bob). Charlie loved his grandchildren Steven Wood (Nicole), Robyn Burroughs (Daniel), Stefanie Leiter (Dave), Ashley Kinstle(Zach Homol), Kyle Paquin, Matthew Paquin, and Joel Paquin, and his great grandchildren Jade and Jake Wood, Maxwell and Eliana Burroughs, Ava and Jackson Leiter, and Crew Ford.

A visitation for Charles will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. A funeral service and burial (at same location) will immediately follow visitation. A celebration of life dinner will be held after the funeral service.
