Moving to Indianapolis, Indiana in the spring of 1943 the family united with Second Christian Church located at 9th and Camp Street, under the leadership of Rev. R.H. Peoples. Christine confessed her hope in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of the Usher Board and served alongside her Mother and Son for many years at Light of The World Christian Church.
Christine was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. She worked at The Finance Center Fort Benjamin Harrison for over 30 years while holding down many other part time jobs. She retired from her work to care for her parents.
Christine enjoyed cooking, “eating”, and sewing among many other things. Always seeking to better herself she enrolled in many classes at Marion College. Christine cherished her children. She taught us a wealth of Life lessons, just a few of her favorite phases were “Tell em what ya mama said”, “Thank you Lord for my children “, “The Lord made it, travel, go see it and be a part of it” her favorite saying “one mo thing, Mama Loves you”. She Adored her grand and great grandchildren who sweetly called her “Mima”. She was always at the ready to take care of family.
Christine Cushingberry received her “Wings” and ascended to her Heavenly home on May 13, 2021 at the blessed age of 81 years young. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepbrother Timothy Walker, former husband, Edward L. Cushingberry Sr. and a host of other relatives.
She leaves to celebrate her life: her children, Karen C Williams, Edward L (Robyn), Michael R (Kris), Carle C (Sheri). Her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her loving Aunts Laurabell and Sarah along with a host of family members and friends.
