Mr. Clifton Lloyd, Sr., lovingly known as “Cliff” and “Daddy”, was born on February 1, 1940, in Indianola, Mississippi, to Preston Lloyd, Sr. and Clara Hill. He was one of 7 children from this union. He also had 6 siblings from his father’s prior marriage.
Cliff attended Gentry High School and later married Dora Jean Davis on May 27, 1968. They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, and were happily married for 58 years until his death. To this union, 2 daughters and 4 sons were born. Together, he and Dora lovingly raised her 2 nieces as their own daughters. He worked as a car detailer with Jerry Alderman Ford for approximately 1 year and then Paul Harvey Ford for 41 years until he retired in 2010. He was well known by his employer, co-workers, and customers at Paul Harvey Ford.
He was not affiliated with a religious group but had strong faith in God and often attended the Fall Creek Congregation meetings, assemblies, and conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout his life with Dora.
Cliff enjoyed working, taking care of and spending time with his family, playing cards, doing yard work, traveling, and going to family reunions. He also loved to watch sports, especially the Colts, the Pacers and Indiana University. He was extremely happy when IU won the National Championship in college football. He liked “to argue” his point on matters with family and friends. At times, he appeared to have a hard exterior, but inside, he was a kind, loving and generous man.
He departed this life on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stevenson, Robert, Shepard, Nelson, Sr., Walter, Preston, James, and Eugene; sisters, Irene, Irma and Mildred.
Cliff leaves to cherish his memory wife, Dora; children, Cynthia Davis, Treva, Clifton Jr. (Terry), Christopher (Sylvia), David (Jamesetta), and Jason Lloyd, Katie Browne and Claudette (Larry) Rumphs; grandchildren, Damond DeAngelo Cobb, Kevin Louis Lloyd, Dealarie Antwon Davis, Takisha Nicole, Kelli Marie, Terrance Bernard, and Stephen Tramell Bryant; Brandan Lloyd; Christopher Davanta and Elexus Reniece Lloyd, Alexandria Victoria Foster; Dominique, David Jr., and Jacob Lloyd; Jeshawn Lloyd; Mandisa Pawelczak, Rashida Browne; Leslie Johnson, Ashley Moore, and Aaron Rumphs; youngest brother, Eddie (Pearline); and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
