Colleen M. Madden (Chiles), 64, died January 14, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father James Chiles and mother Alene Chiles. She is survived by her husband Paul, her children Martin (Ann), Melissa, Peter (Allie), Jimmy, and Paul II (Courtney), as well as sisters Karen and Kathy and brothers Michael and Brian, along with 10 grandchildren (Grace, Catherine, Eleanor, Evelyn, George, Henry, Teddy, Charles, Sam, and Alex) and much extended family.

Colleen was born on September 1, 1956 in Detroit, MI and moved to Indianapolis, IN in her early 20’s. Despite living in Indiana for 40 years, she was proud of her Michigan heritage and never considered herself a true Hoosier. She could be heard saying, Michigan by birth, Indiana by accident! While her love of things Michigan extended to the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan, her heart belonged to the Indianapolis Colts. A season ticket holder, she took the entire family to the 2010 Super Bowl to cheer on the Colts.

She was tireless in raising 5 kids and running a household, and she also found many ways to contribute her time and effort to St. Matthew Catholic Church and School. She liked to joke that she was Uber before Uber was Uber!

Her kind and generous spirit continued on into numerous charitable organizations: Ronald McDonald House, ReadUp, Therapy Dog Program at IU Health, Special Olympics, and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Colleen also worked professionally for Indiana Heart Physicians and Vitreo-Retinal Consultants. Friends and family knew Colleen was happiest when she could share her love of M&Ms, Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi, and especially Bruce Springsteen songs.

A private viewing and Mass will be held at St. Matthew’s. Please visit feeneyhornakkeystone.com to celebrate more of Colleen’s life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ronald McDonald House-Indianapolis.

I manage the Ronald McDonald House inside Riley Hospital. I worked with Colleen each week. She was so faithful to show up each week and totally enjoyed her time sharing with the families. She was a real joy to work with and will be missed by many.
Love and prayers to the family,
David

Colleen was a beautiful person, I am so proud to call her my friend. I’ve been her friend since I was 5 and she was 4. We shared a lot of grade school memories and kept in touch for the rest of our years when she moved to Indiana. My heart just breaks. We both always waited for the phone call on our birthdays. Now it will be different but I will Always think of her on September 1st and look up in Heaven and wish her a Very Happy Birthday. ❤️

I don't have words to describe my mom. She is my hero. The best mom and grandma my kids and I could have had. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for us. If I am half the person she is, I will be ok in life. I will forever miss you and love you.

My husband and I, King Ro, wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Paul and his beautiful family. My heart breaks to think of losing Colleen. However, the beautiful memories of her will never be lost.

I only knew Colleen for the past five years, while I worked with Paul at Butler University, but she has left a lasting memory with me and in my heart. Rarely have I know someone so full of life and love. Our greatest bond was our shared love for Bruce Springsteen and Elton John, and we planned many concerts together.

Paul,
Colleen was your Angel here on Earth, and now she has earned her wings to watch over you in Heaven til you see her again.

Weeping endureth for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning!

Much love and sorrow,
Judie and King Ro Conley
