Cynthia lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and service. A long-time member of First Baptist Church of Asheville, she found great joy singing in the church choir and sharing her beautiful voice in worship. Her faith was central to who she was, guiding the way she loved and cared for others.
A proud and devoted nurse, Cindy served in many roles throughout her career. Families remember her calm reassurance and her ability to turn what could have been scary moments into one filled with comfort and warmth.
Above all, Cynthia was a loving mother and grandmother. She poured herself into her children and grandchildren, celebrating their milestones, cheering on their dreams, and surrounding them with unwavering love. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and cared for—whether through a listening ear, a warm hug, or a simple smile.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Melinda (Richard) Elder of Plainfield, IN; Matthew (Amanda) Redinger of Marietta, GA; and Melissa (James) Schatz of Huntersville, NC; her beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Kennedy, Emory, Tucker, Brooks, and Isaac; and her brother, Jonathan (Rick) Crutchfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on October 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Asheville, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate her life.
