Obituary of David Earl Mason
David Earl Mason was born October 13, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN. He was raised by his mother Anna Allen who preceded him in death. He also had a brother, Richard D. Allen who also preceded him in death. He was a son to his Uncle Forest (deceased) and Mary Mason family. David attended IPS School 44 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. Upon completion of high school, David was employed at Sears Service Center for many years where he became a repairman for household appliances. He later became employed at the City Council Building, where he served as bailiff for the start of his second career where he retired. David was a true servant of God. There was nothing he would not do for family and friends. He was a dedicated member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. David was the type of man who liked to stay busy and enjoyed life. Although retired, he began serving his community. He served as Precinct Councilman for Center Township 7th District and worked the polls at the elections. He had a wonderful funny personality and had a great relationship with his neighbors. He was the type who would cut his neighbor's grass, shovel snow, take them to doctor appointments, the grocery store, and worked at the food pantry at his church. There are so many adjectives that don't begin to describe the heart of David. David could always be depended upon to help his family and he was caregiver to his uncle June (Forest) and aunt Mary. He loved his family. His presence was always there at family gatherings. David never met a stranger. His smile and hearty laugh was infectious. David enjoyed traveling and was adventurous. There was no place that David would not go. He was a collector of kangol hats and a lover of blues music. He liked horseback riding, attending flea markets, concerts, restaurants and just being around family and friends. David knew a lot of people. David departed this life on Friday, March 27, 2020 at the age of 73, 5 months and 14 days. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Tiffany Mason, Ashley Mason, grandson Antonio and one great-grandchild.
