DeAnna Leigh Harley

DeAnna Leigh Harley, age 41, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at approximately 8:16 a.m. in Community Health Network – North in Indianapolis, IN.

She was surrounded by family and friends.

DeAnna "Dee” was born on November 17, 1979 in Phoenix, AZ to the union of Clark Dale and Leola Ladd-Harley. Shortly thereafter the family relocated to Carbondale, IL where she grew into adulthood.

She was baptized into the Christian Faith at an early age under the leadership of Rev. B.R. Hollins and attended Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Carbondale. During the formative years Dee participated in activities within the church where the principles of Christianity were taught. She was involved in Sunday School, children’s choir, Vacation Bible School, and Jr. Ushers. During these same years she participated in AWANA, girl scouts, community soccer and The Southern Illinois Children’s Choir.

DeAnna was educated in the Carbondale Public School System and she also attended Covenant Christian School in Carbondale. She was active in high school band and vocals and was an honor student at Carbondale Community High School. Upon graduating high school, DeAnna studied Physics at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale and Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Upon finishing her studies, DeAnna moved to Chicago, IL and most recently transferred to Indianapolis, IN.

She is preceded in death by her father, paternal grandparents (Joe and Ozella Woodard-Harley-Reams) and maternal grandparents (Robert Bell, Sr. and Seresta Haggins-Bell) and uncle, Jeffrey Bell.

DeAnna is survived by her mother, Leola Ladd-Harley of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Johanna Lee Harley, St Paul, MN; special friend, Muhannad Findakly (“Mo”), Lafayette, IN, one uncle, Elder Robert (Kathy) Bell, Jr., Hayti, MO, four aunts; Linda Ladd-Mathis and Ruth Bell-Williams of Olmsted, IL; Vivian Ladd-Hatcher, Bellevue, NE; Barbara Bell-Quinn, Toledo OH; great aunts, Vernell Haggins (a very special aunt), Indianapolis, IN and Edna Haggins, Boulder, CO; a great uncle, David (Vivian) Haggins of Rockford, IL; many relatives and friends including special/dear cousins Stephanie Ladd of Marion, IL and Jeanette Hatcher-Kennedy of Bellevue, NE.

Service for DeAnna will be held, 12:00 pm, Friday, July 30, 2021, Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home Peoples' Chapel, 5252 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, with visitation held from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm, all taken place at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Washington Park North, 2702 Kessler Boulevard West, Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana.
