Debbie Rachelle Wheat

She confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age. Debbie graduated from Shortridge High School. She worked for Indianapolis Public Schools for 15 years at multiple schools as an Administrative Assistant.

Debbie had a passion for helping others. “Ms. Debbie” would often be recognized around

Indianapolis because of the connections and friendships she developed throughout her career.

On May 8, 1988, Debbie married Paul Wheat and shared ten years of marriage. To that union Rachelle Denise Wheat and Paul Frederick Wheat Jr. were born. Debbie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister,

and friend. She loved spending time hosting her family and serving a meal that made you come back for seconds. She loved to laugh and kept “Alexa” playing her favorite old school R&B while she snapped her

fingers and hit her two step around the house.

Debbie Wheat passed away on Sunday December 15, 2024, at the age of 59. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her two children, Rachelle Wheat and Paul Wheat Jr.; her grandchildren, Leilani Miles,

Payton Wheat, Pasiley Wheat, Pailynn Wheat, Prince Wheat and Paul Wheat III; siblings Rose Bennett, Jerome Bennett, and Lori Bennett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Debbie will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
