

Deborah Hammond Peebles (née Hinsey), 74, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on May 25, 2026 after a four-year battle with Waldenstrom's, a rare blood cancer. During this fight, she taught us more about love and life than we ever knew was possible. Her beautiful smile, smart sense of humor, kindness, and unending devotion to family and friends continued to shine through until her very last moments.
Born on April 3, 1952 in New Albany, IN, Deborah attended New Albany High School. After graduating from Texas Women’s University, she earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and went on to build a fulfilling career as an administrator and fundraiser for Cathedral High School, the Children’s Museums of Indianapolis and Naples, and Little Angel Gowns.
She is survived by her loving husband, Julian; sons Matt Hammond (Rachael) and Alex Hammond (Susan); grandchildren, who she loved more than life itself, Declan, Hadley, Georgia, Charlee, Swift, Emma and Henry; sisters Angie Edwards (Kevin) and Nancy Ruxer (Marty); great nephews and nieces Emilee, Taylor, John, Abby, Jack and Ashley. Deborah also had an incredible bond with Julian’s children Katie Halvorson (Tim), Billy Peebles (Jeanne), Terry Peebles (Julie), and Mollie Love (Jon) and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Von Hisey and Norma Moore.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 AM at Kraft Funeral Home in New Albany, IN.
