Having married into the "Glenridge Neighborhood of Families" Deette was a welcome voice of wisdom. It was these wise moments that I would recall over the past 45 years. There was never a moment when I did not think of her fondly and know she also touch so many others lives. May she rest in peace. She will be remembered.

Deette was a treasured friend of my father, Gerald Parent, a fellow member of Little Flower. He enjoyed her curiosity, sharp mind, and interest in world events, even in her latter years. He greatly enjoyed attending lectures with her. Those experiences were bright spots for him after retirement.

I first met Deette as my neighbor at Crestwood apartments. We had many "backyard fence" chats. She was always upbeat and fun to talk to. It was comforting to me to have someone so wise and dependable close by. I was sad when she moved away. A few years later, I happily discovered that she lived in my boyfriend's neighborhood. When she and her daughter were out walking, they would sometimes stop to visit us. Eric loved to bring out his Golden Retriever "Buddy" to greet her. They were always glad to see each other! Smiles all around!
We will remember her fondly!

I only had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Bennett in the last few years, but I know from the stories that my brother Tom told, he thought she was a wonderful lady. After watching the slide show, the two things that stand out the most are Happy and Brave. What a wonderful amount of living she put into her years! I am so sorry for your loss and yet so happy that you have so many memories to fill your hearts. May she rest in peace....but true to form, maybe not too peaceful! Love, Debbie Rickerd

Deette, Steve and Family,
Condolences on the passing of your Mom. I remember her as one the mothers on Glenridge that you did not mess with. Case in point, the story that I shared with her and you at Charlie Murphy's funeral several years ago---I was 6 or 7 years old and I upset her big time (don't recall what I did). She came charging out of your house toward me, Tommy Sutherland said Teep you better take off and take off I did...she was hot on my tail. I just made it into my house while my Mom and yours where yelling at each other...from them on I gave her a wide berth. Over the years when I would see a coming of age movie, I always thought this encounter would be great addition.

It appears that she lived a wonderful life with many friends and a great family. I am sure you guys will miss her.

DeEtte, Steve, and Family.
I am so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was one of a very elite few that my mom and dad would let visit them at Crestview before they got evicted . For me , I remember her as always having a glowing smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. A great lady and a great legacy. My best to you all.

Mike, Chris, and the Kleese Family.
