Born August 9, 1953, Dee was a lifelong learner and educator. Dee was born in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School before earning her bachelor's degree, Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado State University. Her passion for education and athletics led her to a fulfilling career as a physical education teacher at East High School and diving coach at West High School in Mankato, Minnesota.
Dee enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities including hunting, camping and golf. Dee secured her first big game Elk trophy in her early twenties. Later in life Dee golfed wherever her travels took her, often beating most male players in her foursome. Dee also had a love for animals and had cats, dogs and even a sheep as a child. She leaves behind her beloved cat companion, London.
Dee will be remembered for her competitive spirit, sharp wit and dry humor - qualities that left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her.
Dee is lovingly remembered by her life partner, Stu Rhodes; son Bryce Ballard, his wife Ashley and their children Ainsley and Bridger; twin sister Deb Guse (Dennis); sister Twila McLaughlin (Paul); brother Kent Taylor; and sister in law Kelly Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents Don Carlos and Eileen Taylor as well as her brother, Dr. Richard “Dick” Taylor.
May Dee’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Northside Events & Social Club, 2100 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
